Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said that 42 security personnel were martyred in recent terrorist attacks in Balochistan, while 54 militants were killed during intelligence-based and retaliatory operations.
Addressing a press conference on the security situation in Balochistan, the DG ISPR said the province witnessed three major terrorist incidents in the last four days.
He said militants belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij targeted innocent civilians and attacked security installations, including police checkpoints in Ziarat.
The military spokesperson praised the people of Balochistan and police personnel for their courage in confronting the attackers. He said several local police officials sacrificed their lives while defending their communities.
He said four people were killed and six others injured in the Hana Orek incident. In the Mangi Dam attack, nine police officials were martyred, while security forces killed 15 militants during the response operation.
The DG ISPR said the number of martyred police personnel from the Mangi Dam incident later increased. He added that 11 army personnel were also martyred in a terrorist attack near Bela.
He said security forces launched operations in the mountainous areas of Ziarat on July 6 after receiving intelligence reports about militant activity. During these operations, a large number of militants were eliminated.
According to the DG ISPR, 26 militants were killed during the Ziarat operation, including 14 militants eliminated in the latest action. He added that security forces also suffered losses, with 14 personnel embracing martyrdom during the operation.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry accused hostile elements of supporting terrorist activities in Pakistan. He said these attacks were being carried out through coordination between militant networks and external forces.
He said there was a mastermind behind the recent terrorist incidents and that the objective was to create instability in Balochistan.
The DG ISPR stated that Pakistan’s enemies do not want development and progress in Balochistan. He said attempts to disrupt peace, damage national projects and create fear among people would not succeed.
