According to official sources, the committee has been tasked with determining how the prisoners managed to flee despite being under police custody and identifying any security lapses or negligence that may have contributed to the incident.

The inquiry committee will be headed by SSP Investigations Raja Nasir. Other members include SP Sadar Division Anam Sher Khan, SP Security Asghar Goraiya, DSP Legal Shazia Fazli, SDPO Kahuta Waqar Azeem, and another senior police officer.

Sources said the committee has already sought complete records of all 14 escaped detainees, including details of their criminal cases, custody arrangements, and transport procedures. Investigators have also directed law enforcement personnel to closely monitor the suspects’ relatives, friends, and known associates in an effort to trace their whereabouts.

Meanwhile, police have intensified search operations across Kahuta and adjoining areas. Targeted raids are being conducted at multiple locations as authorities attempt to recapture the escaped detainees at the earliest. Security agencies have also increased surveillance in areas where the suspects are believed to have potential hideouts.

The escape has prompted immediate administrative action within the police department. Sources revealed that SP Security Asghar Goraiya has been assigned the additional charge of DSP Headquarters following the incident. At the same time, Additional SP Mudassar Iqbal and DSP Headquarters Imtiaz Butt were removed from their positions as part of the initial response to the security breach.

The committee is expected to submit its findings after examining the circumstances surrounding the escape, reviewing the responsibilities of the officers involved, and recommending disciplinary action against those found responsible. Authorities have vowed to ensure the swift arrest of the fugitives and strengthen prisoner transport security to prevent similar incidents in the future.
