Afghan suspects named in Pakistani man’s abduction in Iran

PESHAWAR: Two Afghan nationals have been identified as the suspects involved in the kidnapping of a Peshawar resident, Yasir Ali, who was abducted in Iran and later recovered, according to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials.

The officials said Yasir had already paid Rs700,000 in ransom to secure his release. However, the kidnappers were demanding an additional Rs7 million from him.

According to the FIA, Yasir stated in his account after his recovery that both individuals involved in his kidnapping were Afghan nationals.

The agency said the families of the suspects were living in Peshawar. Investigators used their family connections to help secure Yasir’s recovery from captivity in Iran.

The FIA has now expanded its investigation to trace and arrest the suspects. Officials are working to establish their whereabouts and gather further evidence regarding their alleged involvement in the kidnapping and ransom demands.

The case has drawn attention to the challenges faced by Pakistani citizens who become victims of kidnapping and extortion while abroad. The investigation is continuing, and authorities are pursuing the suspects for their alleged role in the crime.
