Akshay Kumar has addressed fans’ disappointment over the absence of Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar from Welcome to the Jungle, saying the two veteran actors remain part of the franchise’s extended family and could return if a fourth film is made.
Speaking to PTI, Kumar said Welcome is a complete family, naming Patekar, Kapoor and himself among those who make up that bond. He added that if Welcome 4 is ever made, all of them would be a part of it. Kapoor and Patekar had famously played Uday Shetty and Majnu Bhai in the original Welcome in 2007 and reprised those roles in Welcome Again in 2015.
Director Ahmed Khan also spoke about staying in touch with both actors throughout production. He said the team spoke regularly during the shoot, with Patekar calling to ask how things were going and joking that he was not available for the film, while still asking when he would get to see it. Khan said Kapoor had also called during filming to check on progress and spoke about planning something together in the future.
Ahead of the film’s release, Kumar and co-star Farida Jalal had spoken about the project’s self deprecating humour and its tagline built around the idea of an intentional flop comedy. Kumar had joked that if 3 Idiots existed, this film essentially had 32 idiots, describing it as a fun film that was given a large budget specifically to flop.
In place of Kapoor and Patekar’s characters, Welcome to the Jungle introduces their younger brothers, Yeda Anna and Romeo, played by Suniel Shetty and Arshad Warsi. Set in a jungle near the border, the film follows two police officers hunting a notorious criminal, blending action with the franchise’s signature chaotic comedy.
The ensemble cast includes Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Arshad Warsi, Jacqueline Fernandez, Disha Patani and Raveena Tandon. Welcome to the Jungle released globally in cinemas on June 26, 2026, and is expected to stream on JioHotstar following its theatrical run, though an official date has not yet been announced.
