Babar Azam faces backlash after fan’s phone incident

Pakistani cricketer Babar Azam has come under criticism on social media after a video showing an interaction between him and a fan went viral.

The incident reportedly took place during a match when a fan approached Babar while attempting to take a selfie. In the footage, Babar can be seen taking the mobile phone from the fan and throwing it away.

The moment quickly gained attention online, with viewers divided over the cricketer’s reaction. Some users appeared to sympathise with Babar, suggesting that repeated interruptions during the game may have frustrated him. Others criticised the way he handled the situation and argued that the phone could have been returned without being thrown.

The incident comes at a time when Babar is facing increased scrutiny over his recent performances. The batter, who has enjoyed considerable success for Pakistan across international cricket and franchise leagues, has struggled to meet the high expectations surrounding him in recent appearances.

The viral clip has added to the discussion surrounding the former Pakistan captain, with social media users debating both his performance and his conduct with fans.

Several commenters criticised what they described as an inappropriate response, while others called for fans to respect players during matches and avoid disrupting them while they are focused on the game.

As the video continues to circulate, the incident has sparked renewed debate about the boundaries between players and fans and how cricketers should respond to interactions during matches.
