Comedian and rapper Ali Gul Pir has opened up about the criticism surrounding his satirical content, explaining that his work focuses on the statements and actions of public figures rather than targeting them personally.

In a recent interview, Pir said that his identity as a comedian, rapper and content creator is rooted in presenting alternative perspectives on issues discussed in the public sphere. He clarified that his intention is not to insult or ridicule individuals but to use publicly available events and statements as material for comedy and social commentary.

Pir explained that his satire is directed toward what people say or do publicly, rather than their personal identities. However, he acknowledged that not everyone featured in his parodies and dubbing videos appreciates the approach. According to him, some artists have contacted him directly to express their displeasure with his content. Pir maintained that public figures should expect criticism and satire because being in the public eye naturally brings greater scrutiny.

The rapper also shared his views on the regulation of online content and opposed the idea of imposing blanket bans on digital platforms and websites. Referring to his song *Kholo Ban*, he said the track was created to challenge the practice of blocking entire platforms because of specific pieces of content.

Using the example of a library, Pir argued that removing an entire platform is not an effective solution simply because some of its content may be considered inappropriate or objectionable. Instead, he suggested that authorities should address problematic material individually rather than restricting access to an entire platform.

Discussing his career in music, Pir said rap attracted him because it provides greater freedom to address subjects beyond conventional romantic themes. According to him, the genre allows artists to discuss social problems, personal struggles and the everyday experiences of ordinary people.

Pir also recalled that his breakthrough song *Waderai Ka Beta* did not immediately transform his financial circumstances despite becoming hugely popular. He said that although the song made him widely recognisable, he continued to travel on public buses. He recalled passengers recognising him from the music video and questioning why he was using public transport instead of driving the expensive car shown in the video.

The comedian further revealed that a music channel executive had initially rejected *Waderai Ka Beta* because it did not follow the commercial formula of the time. The executive reportedly believed that the song needed female models and a romantic storyline to succeed. The track, however, later became a viral hit.

Pir also credited his mother, who raised him and his brother as a single parent, for shaping his beliefs about independence and social equality. He said her experience of running a business while raising her children taught him the importance of self-reliance.

He added that his views on women’s empowerment were strengthened during a writing retreat in Indonesia, where he observed women travelling and working independently, including driving scooters at night. For Pir, such experiences demonstrated how societies can progress when women feel safe, financially independent and free to make their own choices.

Since the success of *Waderai Ka Beta*, Pir has continued to build a diverse career spanning music, comedy and social commentary, with satire and parody remaining an important part of his digital presence.
