In Lahore, the main Ashura procession began from Nisar Haveli inside Mochi Gate and is proceeding towards Karbala Gamay Shah. Thousands of mourners, including men, women and children, are participating in the procession, while elegies and religious recitations continue along the route.
In Karachi, the central procession will emerge from Nishtar Park following a Majlis-e-Aza held in the morning. Large numbers of mourners are expected to participate in the procession under strict security arrangements.
Ashura processions are also being held in Multan, Peshawar, Quetta, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gilgit, Skardu, Muzaffarabad and several other cities across the country.
