Atta Tarar calls on youth to embrace Prophet’s teachings of truth, tolerance in digital era

Information Minister says principles of “Sidq” and “Amanah” can help counter misinformation and promote responsible social media use*

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has urged young people to seek guidance from the life and teachings of **Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)**, particularly by adopting values of truthfulness, trustworthiness, patience, tolerance and respect for parents in their daily lives.

Addressing a one-day seminar titled **“Seerat ka Paigham, Nojawanon ke Naam”** at **Islamabad Model College for Girls, F-7/2**, the minister said the teachings of the Holy Prophet provide valuable guidance for people of every age and segment of society.

The seminar was organised by the **National Rahmatul-lil-Alameen Wa Khatam-un-Nabiyeen Authority** as part of activities marking RaRabi-ul-Awwal.

Atta Tarar said young people could learn numerous lessons from the Prophet’s conduct, including his treatment of parents, patience in difficult circumstances, forgiveness, leadership qualities and respectful dealings with people from different backgrounds.

Referring to the migration from Makkah to Madina, he highlighted the bond between the **Muhajireen and Ansar** as a powerful example of brotherhood, tolerance, cooperation and social unity.

He also referred to the Prophet’s response following the **conquest of Makkah** and the incident of **Taif**, describing them as examples of patience, forgiveness and restraint even in the face of hardship and hostility.

The minister particularly stressed the importance of the principles of **“Sidq”**, meaning truthfulness, and **“Amanah”**, meaning trustworthiness, in today’s digital environment.

He said these values were especially important at a time when social media had made the rapid spread of misinformation easier.

The information minister also highlighted the importance of empowering young people and entrusting them with meaningful responsibilities. Referring to **Hazrat Zaid bin Sabit, Hazrat Usama bin Zaid and Hazrat Musab bin Umair**, he said the early Muslim community demonstrated confidence in young people by assigning them significant responsibilities.

Speaking about women’s empowerment, Tarar cited **Hazrat Khadija (RA)** as an important historical example, particularly highlighting her involvement in trade and economic activities.

He said Islam had granted women an important position and recognised their contributions long before modern discussions about women’s empowerment emerged.

Atta Tarar stressed the need to reduce the communication gap between religious teachings and younger generations, particularly **Generation Z and Generation Alpha**, by using modern communication tools and digital platforms.

He proposed increased cooperation between the **Ministry of Information and Broadcasting** and the **Rahmatul-lil-Alameen Authority** to promote responsible social media use and produce digital content that presents the teachings and life of the Prophet to younger audiences in an engaging manner.

He said positive and responsible use of social media could play an important role in connecting younger generations with the Prophet’s personality and teachings.

The minister assured the authority of the federal government’s support and proposed establishing a committee to formulate practical measures for responsible social media use and the promotion of **Seerat-un-Nabi** through digital platforms.

Concluding his address, Tarar said the message of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was relevant to all humanity and stressed that his noble qualities should not only be discussed but also incorporated into everyday life.

He also thanked Authority Chairman **Prof Dr Khurshid Nadeem** and other organisers, including **Javed Iqbal, Hassan and Dr Fozia Tanveer**, for organising the seminar.
