Ayaz sadiq meets Balochistan CM Bugti in Quetta, assures full federal cooperation

QUETTA/ISLAMABAD: Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq visited the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Quetta on Wednesday, where he held a detailed meeting with Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, members of the provincial cabinet, and lawmakers representing both the government and opposition benches.

The meeting discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interest, including the development and progress of Balochistan, resolution of public grievances, strengthening coordination between the federation and province, and promotion of democratic and parliamentary traditions.

Welcoming the National Assembly Speaker to Quetta, Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti said Ayaz Sadiq’s visit was a matter of happiness and honor for the people of Balochistan.

The chief minister emphasized that Balochistan belongs to everyone and said the province has developed strong traditions of democratic values, political tolerance, mutual respect, and constructive engagement between the government and opposition.

Bugti noted that although government and opposition members often criticize each other on political and policy matters, their disagreements generally remain within the boundaries of parliamentary decorum and mutual respect.

He said differences of opinion are an essential part of democracy and that the opposition has every right to hold the government accountable through criticism and debate. However, he stressed that political differences should not undermine respect for one another or damage democratic traditions.

According to the chief minister, the presence of government and opposition lawmakers together during the Speaker’s visit reflected the province’s political maturity and positive democratic culture. He said such cooperation sends an encouraging message to visitors from other parts of Pakistan as well as the international community.

Speaking during the meeting, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said his relationship with Balochistan extended beyond politics and was deeply rooted in family and personal ties.

He explained that three generations of his family had maintained connections with the province, making his association with Balochistan both emotional and familial.

Ayaz Sadiq said every visit to Balochistan gives him a strong sense of belonging. He praised the people of the province for their hospitality, affection, and sincerity, adding that he has always received tremendous respect and warmth from them.

The Speaker assured the participants that his doors would remain open to all elected representatives and citizens of Balochistan. He pledged that the National Assembly would provide every possible support in addressing public concerns and advancing the province’s development.

Calling Balochistan “the most important province of Pakistan,” Ayaz Sadiq said the progress and prosperity of Balochistan were directly linked to the development and stability of the entire country.

He reaffirmed that the federal government would continue extending its cooperation to the province and work with its political leadership to promote development, public welfare, and prosperity.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed on the importance of strengthening consultation, dialogue, mutual respect, and political cooperation among the province’s leadership.

The leaders expressed the view that constructive engagement between political stakeholders would help address public issues, accelerate development, strengthen democratic institutions, and promote greater harmony between the federation and Balochistan.
