UK ‘Titanic’ kids ride sparks outrage

A Titanic themed children’s ride at a farm in Hitchin, UK has sparked criticism from parents and social media users who say the attraction is insensitive and inappropriate.

The ride is located at Graveley Fruit Farm, which opened in 1981 and offers family activities such as fruit picking and play areas.

For around $3, children can board a ship designed to look like the Titanic. They are even given boarding passes while the word “Titanic” is clearly written on the ride.

The attraction is also called “The Wreck.”

During the ride, the fake ship is raised into the air.  Children then slide down one of four slides before landing on a safety mat.

Although the Titanic-themed attraction has been there for several years it has recently received strong criticism from some parents.

One unhappy social media user called it a strange and inappropriate way to entertain children saying it was difficult to understand why such a tragic event had been turned into a game.

The real Titanic sank on April 15, 1912, after hitting an iceberg in the North Atlantic. Around 1,500 people lost their lives in the disaster.
