Speaking to the media outside Parliament on Thursday, October 22, 2026 Barrister Gohar clarified the situation surrounding Gandapur amid reports circulating about his alleged arrest.
The PTI chairman also addressed questions regarding the party’s leadership in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said Sohail Afridi had been the party’s chief minister and would continue in the role reaffirming the party’s position on the provincial leadership.
Gohar further stated that Junaid Akbar was serving as PTI’s president in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He added that senior vice president Asghar would chair the party’s committee outlining the responsibilities of its key provincial figures.
Discussing party unity, Barrister Gohar said PTI’s members of the National Assembly and provincial assemblies remained aligned with the party and stood with its founder Imran Khan.
He also referred to Sheikh Waqas Akram, Ali Amin Gandapur and other party members saying they had been instructed not to disclose internal party discussions publicly. His remarks appeared aimed at maintaining discipline and limiting the disclosure of internal matters amid the party’s ongoing political challenges.
The clarification comes as PTI continues to deal with questions surrounding its leadership, organisational responsibilities and political strategy. Reports concerning senior party figures have attracted attention amid continuing political tensions in Pakistan.
Barrister Gohar’s statement provides the party’s position on Gandapur’s reported arrest. However, the claim that Gandapur was at home was attributed to the PTI chairman and the supplied report did not include independent confirmation from law enforcement authorities.
The developments highlight the importance of verifying reports concerning political figures through official statements and reliable sources before treating them as confirmed information.
