Speaking to Geo News in Peshawar PTI leader Salman Akram Raja said the party was contacting several major political parties to arrange the conference. He indicated that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman was among the political leaders being approached for consultations.
Raja also reiterated that the party’s decision to hold a long march remained unchanged. His statement suggests that PTI intends to continue its planned political campaign while pursuing discussions with other parties.
Commenting on the opposition leadership, Raja said Mahmood Khan Achakzai was the Leader of the Opposition appointed by PTI founder Imran Khan. He also raised concerns about the reported disappearance of a chief minister and a speaker as well as allegations that members of the National Assembly and provincial assemblies were being taken away.
The PTI leader further rejected what he described as a misleading narrative about the failure of negotiations. He alleged that the talks had been deliberately undermined disputing the suggestion that their breakdown was simply the result of unsuccessful discussions.
The proposed APC is expected to provide a platform for political parties to discuss the current situation and consider possible areas of cooperation. However the party has not announced a confirmed date or disclosed the full agenda of the planned conference in the statement provided.
PTI’s announcement comes amid ongoing disagreements between the party and the government over political and constitutional matters. By reaching out to other political groups the party appears to be seeking broader consultations while maintaining its position on the long march.
Further details regarding participating parties the conference agenda and the next steps in PTI’s political strategy are expected to emerge as preparations continue over the coming days.
