Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has described the expected signing of the Islamabad agreement as a historic development. He said the moment marks growing international attention on Pakistan and its political direction.
He said political disputes and grievances must be resolved through democratic, constitutional, and peaceful means. He added that parliament and the political process are the proper forums for addressing such issues. He reaffirmed that his party remains committed to pursuing a political solution.
Bilawal Bhutto said the PPP has already demanded that the Election Commission withdraw its revised election schedule. He added that efforts will also be made to establish a Truth and Reconciliation Commission. The purpose, he said, is to address pending complaints and ensure fair resolution of outstanding matters.
On financial matters, he said there will be no change in the NFC Award formula. He stated that Sindh and Balochistan will continue to contribute their share to the federal government for three years under the existing arrangement.
Turning to the situation in Azad Kashmir, he said the ongoing unrest is harming both the Kashmir cause and Pakistan’s international reputation. He said such instability risks being exploited by hostile elements. He referred to what he called an India-Israel nexus benefiting from the situation and urged protesters to end their demonstrations peacefully.
He appealed to those involved in law and order violations to surrender themselves to local authorities. He said they should allow the legal process to proceed without obstruction. He stressed that the people of Kashmir should not be pushed into confrontation, uncertainty, or unrest.
Bilawal Bhutto added that if all stakeholders agree, the Azad Kashmir government may review notifications related to protesting groups. He said dialogue and consultation could help ease tensions.
He also emphasized that there would be no compromise on the rule of law. He said accountability for those involved in illegal actions was essential. However, he added that innocent people must not be made to suffer for the actions of others.
