CDA recovers 16 kanals of land in E-12 encroachment operation

ISLAMABAD – The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has continued its comprehensive operation against unauthorized occupation, encroachments and illegal structures in Sector E-12, Islamabad, reaffirming its commitment to protecting public land and ensuring timely completion of development works.

As part of the ongoing enforcement and land-recovery measures, the CDA has recently recovered approximately 16 kanals of acquired land in Sector E-12 that had remained under unauthorized occupation for a long time.

According to CDA, the site had been illegally used for accommodation of private security guards, a holiday home and 14 shops that were being commercially rented out.

The recovery of the land follows verification of the relevant record and completion of necessary legal and administrative process. With possession restored to the Authority, development activities at the site are being resumed, removing a major obstacle that had affected timely execution of infrastructure and public facilities in the sector.

During the operation, senior officers of the CDA and AGC (G) were also present at the site and monitored the enforcement and land-recovery activities. Their presence reflected the coordinated efforts to ensure that the operation was carried out in accordance with applicable law and prescribed procedures.

The CDA has reiterated that acquired public land is held for public purposes and cannot be occupied or commercially exploited without lawful authorization. The Authority made it clear that unauthorized occupation which obstructs approved development projects will be dealt with in accordance with law.

The ongoing operation in E-12 is part of the Authority’s broader efforts to remove illegal constructions and encroachments from the Federal Capital. The CDA has directed the concerned formations to ensure removal of all illegal constructions and encroachments in Sector E-12 and to expedite development and possession-related activities for allottees.

The Authority emphasized that enforcement action is being undertaken after verification of land records and in accordance with prescribed legal and administrative procedures. At the same time, genuine and legally established rights will be dealt with through the relevant forums and mechanisms provided under the law.

CDA officials said that the purpose of the operation is not merely removal of encroachments, but also protection of acquired land, restoration of planned land use, removal of obstacles to development and provision of infrastructure and civic facilities to residents and allottees of Sector E-12.

The recovery of the land will facilitate continuation and acceleration of development activities in the sector. The Authority has directed the relevant formations to ensure that development proceeds according to approved plans, prescribed standards and requirements of residents and allottees.

The CDA has also reiterated its policy that public land must be utilized for the benefit of the people of Islamabad. Unauthorized occupation, encroachment and private commercial use of public land, particularly where such activities obstruct public development, will not be permitted.

The Authority will continue monitoring Sector E-12 and will take further action, wherever required, against unauthorized occupation and illegal construction in accordance with law.

The CDA remains committed to protecting public land, upholding the rule of law, removing encroachments and ensuring timely development of Sector E-12 for the benefit of its residents and allottees.
