ChatGPT may soon let users lock sensitive chats

ChatGPT is the world’s most popular artificial intelligence (AI) assistant and it is continuously being improved. Now, a new feature is being added to ChatGPT that users are likely to appreciate.

According to a report by Android Authority, a new feature has been spotted in the ChatGPT Android app. With this feature, users will be able to lock chats containing sensitive information using a PIN code or fingerprint scan preventing unauthorized access.

The report states that references to “Lock Chats” and “Protect Chats” have been found within the app. It further explains that once a chat is locked, its title and content will not appear in the sidebar, chat history or search results.

ChatGPT already offers a Temporary Chats feature in which the conversation is deleted after the chat is closed and does not appear in the user’s ChatGPT account.

However, locked chats would allow users to keep sensitive information for a longer period while protecting it from others who may access their device.

There are currently limited details available about this feature and it is not yet clear how memory and recall features will work with locked chats. It is also unclear when the feature will be officially rolled out to users.
