Chinese President Xi Jinping has delivered a pointed message to the global community, emphasizing that the international order is capable of progressing without the dominance of the United States. In a strongly worded statement, President Xi warned that America risks following in the footsteps of former global empires if it continues to assume its role as an irreplaceable superpower in global politics and economics.
President Xi highlighted historical parallels, drawing attention to the inevitable decline of once-mighty empires. He cited the example of the British Empire, which a century ago reigned supreme over global trade and influence. At the time, it was widely believed that the empire’s dominance was eternal. However, history tells a different story—eventually, Britain retreated from its commanding position on the world stage.
“History proves that no empire, no matter how powerful, is immune to decline,” Xi stated. “Every great power that viewed itself as invincible ultimately witnessed its own sunset.”
He warned that the United States must not fall into the same illusion of permanence. If it continues to believe that it is indispensable to the functioning of the world, it risks losing the respect of the international community and heading toward decline.
Xi asserted that the global balance of power is shifting, and as times change, so do nations. He emphasized that a country that fails to honor and respect the international community ultimately contributes to its own downfall.
“The future belongs to cooperation, mutual respect, and shared development—not to arrogance or unilateral dominance,” he concluded.
