Chris Brown faces UK court over explosive London

American singer Chris Brown appeared in a UK court on October 26, 2026, over a nightclub altercation in London that took place in February 2023. The singer pleaded guilty to affray in July 2026 following an incident involving music producer Abe Diaw.

The incident occurred at Tape, a private members’ club in Mayfair, where surveillance footage reportedly showed Brown striking Diaw with a tequila bottle. Brown’s associate, rapper Hoody Baby, whose real name is Omololu Akinlolu, was also involved in the assault. Diaw sustained head and knee injuries and required hospital treatment.

Brown was arrested at a Manchester hotel in May 2025 after leaving the UK following the incident. In July 2026, Brown and Akinlolu pleaded guilty to affray, with prosecutors dropping more serious charges, including assault and attempting to cause grievous bodily harm.

During the latest court proceedings, Brown’s defence team described him as a devoted father of four and a law-abiding citizen. His lawyer characterised the nightclub incident as a brief and deeply regrettable episode, arguing that the injuries did not include fractures or broken skin.

The court proceedings remain ongoing, with the final outcome yet to be announced.
