THATTA:The Court of Civil Judge and Judicial Magistrate, Thatta, on Tuesday directed police authorities to remove encroachments from the land adjacent to the mausoleum of seasoned philosopher, politician, writer and historian, the late Rasool Bux Palijo.
Speaking to local reporters outside the District and Sessions Court, Thatta, key member of Rasool Bux Palijo’s political party, Awami Tehreek, Sajjad Ali Chandio, said they had filed an application under Section 145 CrPC for restoration of possession and removal of encroachment. Following this, the court directed Thatta Police to clear the encroachment and establish a police picket at the site. He added that the encroachers failed to produce any title documents.
Mr. Chandio further stated that they had earlier submitted an application to the SSP Thatta, but no action was taken against the miscreants. According to him, the individuals dismantled the boundary wall of Rasool Bux Palijo’s mausoleum and illegally occupied 20 _gunta_ of land, where the event marking his death anniversary is held every year.
Central President of Awami Tehreek, Advocate Vasand Thari, who was leading a 20-member team of lawyers, said the illegal occupation had triggered anger across Sindh. Supporters and admirers of the late Rasool Bux Palijo had taken to the streets to draw the provincial government’s attention and demand stern action against the perpetrators, but to no avail.
He further said that the police report submitted to the court confirmed the illegal occupation. The hearing of the case has been adjourned until July 21.
