“Terrorism originating from across the border will be crushed with the full might of the state,” the COAS said, adding that such proxy networks would not be allowed to undermine Pakistan’s security or economic stability. The statement comes amid heightened tensions along Pakistan’s borders, particularly with Afghanistan, where Islamabad has repeatedly urged the Taliban administration to dismantle terrorist sanctuaries on Afghan soil that are used for attacks in Pakistan.

Munir’s remarks also come as Pakistan continues to navigate a complex security environment following the collapse of the US-Iran ceasefire. The military leadership has maintained a vigilant posture, with recent intelligence reports indicating increased activity by militant groups operating from across the border. The COAS emphasised that the armed forces remain committed to safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity against all threats.

The statement also follows recent operations by Pakistani security forces against terrorist hideouts, including Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq, which was launched after unprovoked firing by the Afghan Taliban from across the border. The military has also conducted calibrated strikes against terrorist hideouts belonging to banned groups, killing dozens of militants.
