Punjab’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has carried out a successful intelligence-based operation in the mountainous Koh-e-Suleman region, resulting in the deaths of two suspected militants linked to a banned organization. The operation was conducted as part of ongoing efforts to prevent terrorist activities and strengthen security across the province.
According to a CTD spokesperson, security agencies received credible intelligence indicating that a group of 12 to 15 suspected militants was present in the area and allegedly planning acts of sabotage. Following the information, authorities launched a surveillance mission using advanced monitoring equipment and drone technology to track the movements of the suspects.
After gathering sufficient intelligence, CTD personnel conducted a targeted operation near the Jandoga area in the Koh-e-Suleman mountains. The action followed a period of covert observation aimed at confirming the presence and activities of the suspected militants. During the operation, two suspects were killed.
Officials stated that the mission was designed to neutralize potential threats before they could be carried out. The operation forms part of broader counterterrorism measures intended to maintain law and order and ensure public safety.
Authorities believe that additional suspects may still be in the area. As a result, search operations are continuing to locate and apprehend any remaining individuals linked to the group. Security personnel have intensified monitoring and patrol activities in the surrounding region to prevent possible escape attempts.
The CTD reaffirmed its commitment to combating terrorism through intelligence-led operations and close coordination with other law enforcement agencies. Officials emphasized that efforts to eliminate militant networks and protect citizens will continue, with authorities remaining vigilant against threats to national security. The latest operation highlights the ongoing determination of security institutions to disrupt extremist activities and preserve peace in the region.
