Lahore: In a significant move to enhance road safety and prevent traffic accidents, CTO Lahore, Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi, has imposed a ban on the entry of commercial vehicles into the city if they are being operated without a valid driving license, fitness certificate, or functional front and rear lights.
According to CTO Lahore, only those commercial vehicles whose drivers possess valid driving licenses will be allowed to enter the city from today onwards. Strict action will also be taken against loader tractor-trolleys carrying sand, soil, construction material, and other goods without proper tarpaulin covers.
Special checking and general hold-up operations have been launched at all entry and exit points of the city. Concerned SPs and DSPs will personally supervise the enforcement campaign to ensure effective implementation of the directives.
Announcing a zero-tolerance policy against commercial vehicles operating with high-beam lights, defective or missing rear lights, and without valid fitness certificates, CTO Lahore emphasized that there would be no compromise on the protection of citizens lives and property.
He further directed commercial drivers to keep their driving licenses, fitness certificates, route permits, and other relevant documents with them at all times. He reiterated that no leniency would be shown to those found violating traffic laws and safety regulations.
“Ensuring the safety of road users remains our top priority. Strict enforcement of traffic laws is essential to reducing accidents and creating a safer road environment for all citizens,” said CTO Lahore.
