Customs Enforcement Quetta has conducted a major anti-smuggling operation, seizing nine non-custom-paid (NCP) vehicles along with a large consignment of smuggled goods worth approximately Rs121.6 million, officials said on Thursday.
According to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the operation was carried out in the Rakhni area based on credible intelligence regarding the movement of NCP vehicles and illegally imported goods. The enforcement drive was conducted with the support of FC North and Loralai Police, ensuring effective coordination and security during the operation.
The seized goods included assorted brands of smuggled cigarettes, gutka, Chinese salt, and betel nuts, which are commonly trafficked across borders and pose serious challenges to the country’s economy and public health. Officials stated that the seizure represents a significant blow to organized smuggling networks operating in the region.
All confiscated vehicles and goods have been taken into official custody. Legal proceedings have been initiated under the relevant provisions of the Customs Act, 1969, while further investigations are underway to identify individuals and networks involved in the illegal trade.
The FBR reiterated its commitment to strict enforcement against smuggling, illegal trade, and the use of non-custom-paid vehicles. Authorities emphasized that such operations will continue across Balochistan and other vulnerable areas to safeguard national revenue and promote lawful trade.
Officials also urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by reporting suspicious activities related to smuggling, adding that community support is vital in the fight against economic crimes.
