Pakistan has intensified preparations for the upcoming 9th Ministerial Conference on Women of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, which will be hosted in Islamabad on July 12 and 13.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar chaired the sixth meeting of the high-level committee formed to oversee arrangements for the international event.
The meeting reviewed the final phase of preparations for the conference. Officials discussed the draft programme and agenda for the two-day event. Detailed discussions were also held on protocol arrangements for foreign delegates and dignitaries arriving in Pakistan.
Security preparations remained a major focus of the meeting. Authorities reviewed plans to ensure the safety of all participants, delegates and guests attending the conference.
Logistical arrangements, including transportation, accommodation and venue management, were also examined to guarantee smooth operations throughout the event.
The committee further discussed media coverage and communication strategies to highlight the importance of the conference and its objectives at both national and international levels.
Inter-ministerial coordination was another key area of discussion. Relevant ministries and departments were directed to work closely together to avoid delays and ensure efficient implementation of all plans.
The conference is expected to bring together representatives, ministers and officials from all 57 member states of the OIC. Participants will discuss ways to strengthen cooperation in promoting women’s empowerment, social inclusion and sustainable development across the Muslim world.
Speaking during the meeting, Ishaq Dar appreciated the progress made so far in completing preparations for the event. He particularly acknowledged the efforts of the Ministry of Human Rights in coordinating arrangements.
The deputy prime minister instructed all stakeholders to maintain close coordination and complete the remaining work within the given timeframe to ensure the successful hosting of the conference.
The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights Azam Nazeer Tarar, Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch, Secretary Human Rights Abdul Khaliq Shaikh and other senior government officials.
