Karbala’s message of truth and unity highlighted at Lahore conference

Addressing the gathering as chief guest, Secretary and Chief Administrator of Auqaf Punjab Dr. Ehsan Bhutta said the teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA)

LAHORE: The life and sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) offer an enduring example of courage, justice, patience and unwavering faith, speakers said at the Syed-ul-Shuhada Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) Conference held at Iqbal Hall, Badshahi Mosque.

Addressing the gathering as chief guest, Secretary and Chief Administrator of Auqaf Punjab Dr. Ehsan Bhutta said the teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) remain a timeless source of guidance for humanity. He stressed that adopting the values of truth, sacrifice, justice and submission to the will of Allah in both personal and collective life is essential for promoting peace, tolerance, moral integrity and unity within the Muslim Ummah.

Dr. Bhutta described the Battle of Karbala as one of the defining moments in Islamic history, symbolising the triumph of truth over falsehood and the struggle against oppression. He said the sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) continues to inspire people to stand firmly for justice and righteousness.

He also highlighted the Punjab Auqaf Department’s efforts to transform shrines of Sufi saints into centres of spirituality, religious harmony and social cohesion. In line with the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, he said measures are being taken to improve facilities and ensure a peaceful environment for devotees at shrines across the province. The department, he added, remains committed to promoting inter-sect harmony and the peaceful teachings of Islam.

Chairman of the Muttahida Ulema Board Punjab, Dr. Mufti Intikhab Ahmad Noori, said the steadfastness and sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) would forever remain a symbol of truth and the honour of Islam. He urged Muslims to rise above sectarian divisions and embrace the principles of justice, unity and compassion.

Other speakers, including Maulana Mufti Imran Hanafi, Maulana Mufti Muhammad Shafiq, Allama Sajjad Hussain Jawadi and Maulana Imran Khalid, emphasized that the teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) provide valuable guidance for addressing modern social and moral challenges. They called for greater unity among Muslims, the promotion of tolerance and brotherhood, and unwavering commitment to truth in the face of injustice.

The conference concluded with a special prayer led by Khateeb Jamia Masjid Data Darbar, Maulana Mukhtar Ahmad Nadeem, who prayed for Pakistan’s peace, stability, prosperity and the unity of the Muslim Ummah, while reaffirming the importance of upholding the timeless values of truth, justice and humanity exemplified by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
