Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Asad Raza has ordered an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding a case registered after a video showing two women fighting at a residential building in Karachi’s Defence area went viral on social media, police said on Saturday.

According to police, the inquiry will examine the reasons behind the registration of the case and establish the facts surrounding the incident. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Investigation South has been tasked with conducting the probe.

Investigating officers said the challan in the case has not yet been submitted. Police also clarified that sections related to snatching and theft had been removed from the case.

Officials said a plain-clothed police officer seen in CCTV footage was allegedly from Korangi Police. The personnel visible in the footage will also be questioned as part of the inquiry.

The investigation was ordered after videos emerged on social media showing a physical altercation between two women at a flat in Defence’s Khayaban-e-Bukhari area.

According to local residents, the incident occurred around nine days ago. The footage reportedly showed police personnel dragging a young man away from the scene while an official Vigo vehicle could also be seen outside the building.

The appearance of the footage has raised questions about the presence and role of police personnel at the location. Authorities have yet to establish the circumstances under which the officers arrived at the scene and why the official vehicle was present.

Injured Woman Shares Her Account

A separate video featuring an injured woman identified as Noor-ul-Ain, has also surfaced on social media. In the footage, she appears frightened and visibly injured.

Speaking in the video, Noor-ul-Ain claimed that she had suffered injuries to her nose, mouth and eye and alleged that her hair had also been pulled out during the incident.

Earlier, another video showing two women fighting while police personnel were reportedly present at the Defence flat had circulated widely online. A case was subsequently registered at Darakhshan Police Station in connection with the incident.

SSP Denies Connection to Viral Video

Meanwhile, SSP Korangi Fida Hussain Janwari has strongly denied any connection between himself or his family and a video circulating on social media.

Janwari said neither his wife nor his sister appeared in the video. He alleged that a social media post had falsely described a woman around his daughter’s age as his wife in an attempt to damage his reputation.

The police officer said he intended to take legal action against those responsible for circulating the video while associating it with him. He added that he had contacted officials of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) regarding the matter.

The inquiry ordered by DIG South is expected to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident and determine the role, if any, of police personnel shown in the footage.
