Dwayne Johnson has surprised fans with a dramatic new look for his upcoming fantasy film Lizard Music.
The actor was recently spotted on the streets of Brooklyn wearing extensive makeup and prosthetics to portray an eccentric elderly man. Dressed in a beige bucket hat and matching coat over a blue shirt and patterned tie, Johnson looked almost unrecognisable in his latest role.
Directed by Benny Safdie, the film is expected to hit cinemas on December 25, 2027. Johnson plays a 70-year-old character known as The Chicken Man, who embarks on a search for answers.
The transformation has sparked excitement among fans, with many praising Johnson’s willingness to explore different characters beyond his familiar action-hero image. Some also expressed anticipation for the film, particularly those whose children are involved in the project.
Based on Daniel Pinkwater’s novel, Lizard Music follows a young boy who discovers a mysterious late-night broadcast featuring lizards playing unusual music, leading him into an extraordinary adventure.
This marks another major physical transformation for Johnson, following his portrayal of legendary MMA fighter Mark Kerr in The Smashing Machine. For that 2025 sports biopic, he gained around 30 pounds and wore extensive prosthetics and a wig to embody the fighter.
With his latest role, Johnson continues to take on challenging characters that showcase a different side of his acting abilities.
