Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has praised Arafat Minhas and Hasan Nawaz for their outstanding performances in Pakistan’s ODI tri-series clash against England at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Minhas delivered a remarkable all-round performance, scoring 59 off 58 balls before claiming career-best figures of 6 for 40 to lead Pakistan to a convincing victory. Hasan Nawaz also impressed with a fluent 79 off 74 deliveries, while Faheem Ashraf contributed a quickfire 39 from 26 balls. Saad Baig added 35 as Pakistan recovered from 81-4 to post 302-9.
England were bowled out for 215 in reply, with Tom Banton scoring 57 and Ben Duckett making 45. Minhas played a decisive role, dismissing key batters and finishing with six wickets to secure Pakistan’s win.
Afridi congratulated the team on social media, highlighting Minhas’ memorable display and Hasan Nawaz’s composed innings under pressure. He also urged Pakistan’s management to give Sahibzada Farhan a consistent opportunity in ODI cricket.
Farhan has scored 101 runs in six ODIs. In T20 internationals, he has accumulated 1,554 runs in 51 matches, including two centuries and 13 half-centuries, at a strike rate of 139.49.
Recently appointed Pakistan’s T20I captain, Farhan led the national side to a silver medal at the 2026 Asian Games and a 2-1 T20I series victory over Sri Lanka earlier this month.
