Facebook, the world’s most popular social media platform used by billions of people every day is testing a new feature that has never before been available on the platform. Meta is currently experimenting with a feature that will allow users to see the view count of their Facebook posts.
According to a report, the feature is currently being tested with a limited number of users. The report states that the post view count will appear directly on the main post display. However, only the person who created the post will be able to see the number of views. This will help users better understand how well their posts are performing.
Meta is placing greater emphasis on view counts so that users can learn what type of content attracts the most attention from their audience. At present, Facebook users mainly judge the performance of a post by the number of likes it receives. However, Meta believes that likes alone are not the best measure of a post’s popularity or engagement.
Across Facebook and Meta’s other apps recommendation algorithms display content based on a user’s interests. As a result, many of the posts users now see on Facebook and Instagram come from people they do not follow or who are not on their friends list.
As mentioned above, the feature is still in the testing phase so it is not yet known when Meta will roll it out to all Facebook users worldwide.
