Islamabad Police have arrested three individuals, including a woman’s father, former husband and father-in-law, in connection with a murder case that was allegedly disguised as an accidental death caused by electrocution. The arrests mark a significant breakthrough in an investigation that initially appeared to involve a tragic household accident.

According to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq, the incident took place on May 20 within the jurisdiction of Banigala Police Station. The victim, identified as Bushra, was allegedly murdered by the suspects. Following the incident, the accused reportedly attempted to conceal the crime by presenting her death as the result of an electric shock. They also arranged for her immediate burial, which complicated the initial investigation.

Despite these efforts, police launched a detailed inquiry after receiving information that raised suspicions about the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death. Investigators utilized Safe City surveillance cameras, human intelligence sources and modern technological tools to uncover evidence that contradicted the initial claims of accidental electrocution.

As the investigation progressed, law enforcement officials gathered sufficient evidence to identify and apprehend the suspects. The arrested individuals have been identified as Zahir Shah, the victim’s father; Asad Khan, her former husband and Pir Muhammad, her father-in-law. Police believe the three men played a role in the alleged murder and subsequent cover-up.

The case highlights the growing use of advanced investigative techniques in solving complex crimes. Authorities credited the integration of surveillance technology and intelligence gathering for helping uncover the truth behind what initially appeared to be an accidental death. DIG Tariq emphasized that all legal procedures will be followed to ensure the accused are prosecuted according to the law.
