According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), thunderstorms and rain are expected in Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Heavy rainfall could trigger flash floods in local streams and low-lying areas.
The NDMA warned that rising water levels may affect Chitral, Shangla, Kohistan, Battagram, and Mansehra. In Azad Kashmir, Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Bagh, and Rawalakot may also face flood-related risks.
Authorities also expressed concern about possible flooding in streams and waterways across Gupis-Yasin, Ghizer, Diamer, Tangir, Darel, and Gilgit districts of Gilgit-Baltistan.
Residents living near rivers and drainage channels should take precautionary measures. The NDMA also advised tourists and travelers to avoid unnecessary trips to mountainous areas during periods of heavy rain.
In addition, officials have warned of landslide risks in Gilgit-Baltistan and nearby mountainous regions between June 12 and June 15. Landslides could temporarily disrupt traffic on the Karakoram Highway and the Jaglot-Skardu Road.
