Four independents join IPP after GB election wins

The final official results of three constituencies in the Diamer region of the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly elections have been announced.

GILGIT: The final official results of three constituencies in the Diamer region of the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly elections have been announced.

According to the Returning Officer, independent candidate Muhammad Dilpazeer has won from GBA-15 Chilas. Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate Muhammad Naseem has secured victory in GBA-17, while Muslim League-N candidate Kifayat ur Rehman has been declared successful in GBA-18 Tangir.

In a separate political development, four successful independent candidates have joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-backed Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP). The announcement was made after a meeting with Federal Minister Aleem Khan.

Those who joined the IPP include Anwar Ali, Asad Shafiq, Muhammad Dilpazeer, and Aman Ali. The independents formally announced their decision to join the party during the meeting.

Overall results from the Gilgit-Baltistan elections show that the PPP has won 10 seats so far, the PML-N has secured 5 seats, the IPP has obtained 4 seats, independent candidates have won 2 seats, and Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) has secured 1 seat.

Results from two constituencies, GBA-16 Diamer and GBA-13, are still awaited and are expected to be announced later today.

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed optimism regarding the formation of the government in Gilgit-Baltistan. Speaking to the media at Parliament House, he said the party is hopeful of securing enough support to form the government in the region.
