KARACHI: Counterterrorism authorities in Karachi have arrested four suspected militants during coordinated intelligence-led raids at multiple locations recovering hand grenades and an improvised explosive device (IED) according to officials.

The operations were conducted by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Karachi in cooperation with a federal intelligence agency. Investigators suspect the detainees were connected to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and Baloch Republican Guards (BRG).

Officials said the suspects were allegedly preparing attacks against sensitive installations and law enforcement personnel. Investigations are continuing to establish the extent of their activities and identify any associates.

Two suspects detained near Lasbela Chowk

During the first raid, security personnel detained Sajid Yousuf, son of Muhammad Yousuf, and Shaukat Ali, also known as Shauki son of Huzoor Bakhsh near the Lasbela Chowk bus stop.

CTD officials alleged that both men were associated with the BLA and had previously participated in targeted killings and attacks on Frontier Corps vehicles. Two hand grenades were reportedly found during their arrest.

Investigators further claimed that the suspects maintained contact with a commander and were considering attacks on sensitive sites and law enforcement offices in Karachi.

Alleged TTP member arrested at old sabzi mandi

A separate operation at Old Sabzi Mandi resulted in the arrest of Dad Muhammad, also known as Adil son of Jalat Khan. Authorities attributed his alleged links to the banned TTP and reported recovering a prepared IED from his possession.

According to the CTD the suspect had received training in Afghanistan and was allegedly assigned to plan attacks in the city. Officials are examining possible connections with other individuals involved in the suspected network.

BRG suspect taken into custody

In another operation, authorities arrested Fazal Haq Khan, son of Kameen over alleged links to the BRG. One hand grenade was reportedly recovered during the raid.

Officials claimed the suspect had received training in a neighbouring country and was acting on instructions from a foreign handler. These allegations remain subject to investigation.

Four cases registered, rewards announced

The CTD registered four cases numbered 94/2026 through 97/2026 under relevant provisions of the Explosive Substances Act 1908 and the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997.

Senior officials also announced cash rewards and commendation certificates for personnel involved in the operations.

The CTD said intelligence-led activities would continue to prevent attacks and identify suspected accomplices facilitators and financial supporters. Further investigative and enforcement measures remain underway.
