KHYBER — A French woman has been rescued from alleged domestic violence in Bara tehsil of Khyber district.According to CCPO Dr. Mian Saeed, the woman is 54 years old and has been living in the area since 2014 after marrying a Pakistani citizen.

Police received information about the incident on June 18. Acting on the report, law enforcement officials raided a house in Bara.During the operation, the foreign woman was recovered from the premises. Authorities said she was allegedly being subjected to abuse inside the house.

Officials stated that the woman informed police she had been mistreated by her husband. She also said she was not allowed to leave the house freely.After the rescue, the French national and her four children were taken into protective custody. They were shifted to Peshawar for security reasons.

Police said the woman has expressed her wish to return to France. Arrangements are being made in this regard through official channels.A case has been registered against the husband of the foreign woman. Further investigation into the matter is currently underway.

Authorities also confirmed that the Foreign Office has been informed. A formal communication has been sent to the French Embassy through diplomatic channels.

Officials said legal proceedings will continue as the investigation progresses.
