Gomal top gun’s close relative embroiled in fake degree

Candidates continue turning up high volume of evidence to substantiate allegations of sale and purchase of jobs on large scale

DI Khan: The drop scene of fake degrees scandal at Gomal University came when Zahir Shah, the Acting Registrar, was reported to have manufactured a fake Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree for his wife.

According to official documents obtained by Minute Mirror, Zahir Shah’s wife’s registration number was 22-1994-AIDC and she got the degree from Azad Islamia College, Nista Charsadda.
Azad Islamia College is a private college affiliated with Gomal University. Record shows that Zahir Shah got this degree for Rs. 145,000.

It is also found that Zahir Shah also applied for the job of school teacher posts in ETEA for his wife using this same degree.

Zahir Shah, and Vice Chancellor Zafar Iqbal have been sent questions and sought their versions on Gomal University scandals multiple times but they declined to reply.

The KP Higher Education Department (HED) has seemingly lost it all and the situation demands that the Higher Education Commission, Prime Minister’s Office and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) should directly intervene to hold an inquiry.

The provincial Anti-Corruption Establishment has also launched an inquiry but provincial chief minister Sohail Afridi and other ministers have repeatedly announced that there is no corruption in the province, determining the fate of this inquiry.

Scandals have surrounded Gomal University for a little less than two years.
Candidates have not yet ceased putting up piles and piles of evidence to substantiate allegations of sale and purchase of jobs that the administration kicked open Pandora’s box of fake degrees in the university.

At the start, the issue of fake degrees was a clear attempt to divert attention from the allegations of sale and purchase of jobs from Grade 17 to Grade 21. Families of top guns of the university were hired on multiple posts.

Dr. Usman Ghani, director of IMSciences institute, squarely turned down piles of evidence to substantiate allegations of sale and purchase of jobs and wrote a report that legal experts say was seemingly written by Vice Chancellor Zafar Iqbal.
