Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday for an official visit along with a high-level delegation. The visit comes at a time of shifting regional dynamics following recent diplomatic developments involving Iran and the United States.
Upon arrival, President Pezeshkian was received by President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. A ceremonial welcome was held at the airport. The Pakistan Air Force conducted a flypast, and a 21-gun salute was presented in his honour.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had already reached Islamabad earlier as part of the visiting delegation. He was received at Nur Khan Airbase by Pakistani officials. Both sides reiterated that Pakistan and Iran share strong historical, cultural, and brotherly ties.
Officials said the visit is taking place in the context of recent diplomatic developments and regional engagements aimed at reducing tensions and promoting dialogue. The Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding has also been highlighted as part of the broader framework for cooperation.
