The federal government has set a target to pass the 2026-27 budget before Ashura.
A meeting of parliamentary leaders was held under the chairmanship of National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.
It was decided that the budget session will start on June 12. The session will continue without any break until the budget is approved.
According to sources, the government is aiming to complete the budget process by June 23 or June 24. This is before the expected holidays of Muharram and Ashura.
The meeting also decided that no weekly holidays will be observed during the budget session. Parliament will continue working on Saturdays and Sundays as well.
Officials said the session will remain uninterrupted to ensure timely approval of the financial plan.
Sources added that if the budget is not passed before Ashura, parliamentary proceedings will continue after the holidays. However, Ashura holidays will still be observed.
It was also decided that supplementary grants will be presented and approved after the Ashura break if required.
The government aims to avoid delays in the budget approval process. The focus is on completing all financial matters within the set timeframe.
