Govt announces Rs5m compensation for families of PIMS fire victims

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced financial compensation of Rs5 million for each family of the newborn babies who died in a fire at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad.

The government expressed deep sorrow over the deaths and extended condolences to the bereaved families.

In an official statement, the federal government said it shared the grief and pain of the affected families during the difficult time.

The government acknowledged that no financial assistance could compensate for the loss of precious lives. However, it said the compensation was intended to help ease the financial difficulties faced by the bereaved families and provide them with some relief.

“ No amount can replace precious human lives,” the government said, adding that the deceased children could not be brought back.

The government further assured the affected families that every possible support and assistance would be provided.
