KARACHI: Pakistani actor Hamza Ali Abbasi has expressed concern over what he described as negative attitudes in society towards widows and divorced women who choose to remarry.
In a social media post, Abbasi said women who decide to remarry after divorce or the death of their husbands often face criticism, particularly when they have children.
He said such attitudes should be discouraged and women who choose to remarry should instead be supported.
“Some people in our society view women negatively if they want to remarry after divorce or widowhood, especially if they have children,” Abbasi said.
He described interference in another person’s decision to marry or not as unethical, saying everyone has the right to make decisions about their own life.
Abbasi urged people to stop judging women who choose to remarry.
He said remarriage was a right granted to women by religion and should not be treated as a reason for social criticism.
