Karachi Red Zone roads closed again amid fears of protest

Roads leading to Karachi's Red Zone were closed again on Monday amid the possibility of a protest during the session of the Sindh Assembly, South SSP said.

KARACHI: Roads leading to Karachi’s Red Zone were closed again on Monday amid the possibility of a protest during the session of the Sindh Assembly, South SSP said.

According to the police official, the road from the Arts Council has been blocked with containers, while the route from Business Road towards the Sindh Assembly has also been closed.

Only people with relevant business at the Sindh Assembly are being allowed to pass through the gate, while local traffic is also barred from using the Assembly Road.

The closures follow an announcement by the Sindh Civil Servants Company of a strike against a motion of adjournment outside the Sindh Assembly.

High-security arrangements have been put in place around the provincial assembly, police said.

SHOs from several police stations, along with additional personnel, have been deployed by South Zone Police.

Commandos have also been stationed at the main entrance of the Sindh Assembly as part of the security arrangements.
