Haryanvi singer, actor and YouTuber Ankit Baliyan was shot dead outside a gym in Uttar Pradesh’s Shamli district on Wednesday evening, leaving his family and local community shocked. Police have launched an investigation into the killing and are exploring several possible motives behind the attack.

According to preliminary information, the 35-year-old performer had reportedly been at a fitness gym before the shooting. The incident took place at around 6:55 pm when Baliyan stepped outside the gym. Police said that three to four armed men allegedly approached him and opened fire before fleeing the scene.

Baliyan suffered multiple gunshot wounds in the attack. He was immediately taken to a nearby health centre for medical treatment, but doctors could not save him. His death was subsequently confirmed, prompting senior police officials and investigative teams to reach the crime scene.

The murder has also sparked speculation on social media after a post allegedly claiming responsibility for the killing began circulating online. The post reportedly stated that the attack had been carried out in the name of the Gogi gang.

Police have not yet confirmed the authenticity of the social media claim. Investigators are examining the post to determine whether it is genuine and whether it has any direct connection with Baliyan’s murder.

Authorities are also looking into whether the singer had any previous disputes or links that could have made him a target. Shamli police officials are examining different angles as they attempt to establish a possible motive and identify those responsible.

A senior police official said the incident was reported through a Dial 112 emergency call. According to the official, information was received that Baliyan, a resident of Banti Khera, had arrived at the gym. Shortly after leaving the premises, he was allegedly attacked by several men.

Police teams have since been deployed to gather evidence and follow leads. Around six to seven teams are reportedly working on different aspects of the investigation. One major team has been sent to Haryana, while other teams are pursuing leads in different locations.

Investigators are also analysing technical evidence, including available footage and other information that could help establish the movements of the suspects before and after the shooting. Officials said they were confident of making progress in the case and bringing those responsible to justice.

Meanwhile, Baliyan’s relatives have said they remain unaware of the circumstances surrounding his death. Speaking to the media, one family member said they had no information about who could have carried out the attack or what might have led to it.

The family member explained that they were not at home when the incident occurred and said they were still trying to understand what had happened. The relatives have reportedly been left in shock as police continue to investigate the killing.

With multiple teams working on the case, authorities are now focusing on identifying the attackers, determining their motive and verifying the social media claim. Police are expected to examine Baliyan’s personal and professional connections, possible disputes and other circumstances that could provide clues.

The investigation remains underway, and officials have assured that strict action will be taken against anyone found responsible for the killing.
