New FOSPAH system to fortify women’s workplace protection

Federal Minister for Law Azam Nazeer Tarar has said the government is committed to providing women with a safe and dignified working environment.

He made the remarks while addressing a ceremony in Islamabad.

Tarar said workplace harassment remains an important issue that requires effective institutional measures. He stressed the need for a strong complaints system to ensure women can seek justice without unnecessary delays.

The federal minister said an effective mechanism for registering and addressing harassment complaints would play a key role in protecting women’s rights.

He said the Federal Ombudsperson Secretariat for Protection Against Harassment (FOSPAH) has introduced a modern complaints management system to improve the handling of such cases.

According to Tarar, the new system will make the complaints process more organised and efficient. It will also help authorities monitor complaints and ensure that cases move forward properly.

He said the FOSPAH application would provide an easier way for women to register complaints related to harassment.

The app would also allow complainants to check the progress of their cases. This would improve access to information and make the complaint process more transparent.

Tarar said women should not have to face unnecessary difficulties when seeking protection or justice against harassment.

He stressed that complaints must be addressed promptly and through a fair process.

The minister said an effective complaints mechanism could help build confidence among women and encourage them to report harassment without fear.

He added that creating a secure workplace is essential for increasing women’s participation in professional and public life.

Tarar reiterated that protecting women’s dignity and rights remains a priority for the government.
