Hasan Shehryar Yasin (HSY) comes to Gymkhana

On Friday, June 12, 2026, Hasan Shehryar Yasin, the acclaimed Pakistani bridal couture designer, visited Gymkhana and delivered a lecture on his personal life journey.

HSY needs no introduction. He is an established bridal designer and was perhaps among the pioneers of bridal in the fashion industry. He launched his brand in the year 2000.

In his talk, HSY focused on how he became a famous icon! He takes the audience through his personal and professional journey to provide a wholesome experience of how he became HSY to the public.

His story is painful and heart-wrenching. His mother left his father, and they moved to the USA, where HSY was doing really well.

However, circumstances were such that they had to return to Pakistan. He returned to Pakistan at the age of 15. No school was willing to give him admission. It was through these trying times that he came across Mrs Kasuri, the owner of the Beaconhouse school project. Mrs Kasuri immediately took a liking to him and gave him admission in her school.

HSY proved to be a brilliant student. He topped in school and also won the debating competitions.

However, he was going through an identity crisis. Who was he really, a Pakistani or an American?

He took up his first job as a cashier at pace. Work allowed him to develop confidence, and he overcame his shyness.

At the age of 17, he underwent a major car accident where he lost his eyesight and got 600 stitches on his face. HSY’s relationship with his mother was extraordinary. He stood by his mother through thick and thin, and his mother nurtured and loved him unconditionally, too.

The organisation LRBT was the one that helped him through this difficult time and restored his eyesight. He then became a global ambassador to the organisation that has helped over 2 million people to regain their eyesight.

Not only is HSY a world-famous designer, but he is also a philanthropist. He is the global ambassador to the SOS village for orphans and LRBT.

As he opened his eyes, he saw that the world was beautiful and he liked to be around the things that create beauty. And with this realisation, he auditioned for a fashion show. He directed the show for Neelofar Shahid.

He had also graduated from the PIFD as a top student. He also did a shoot with Iman Ali.

HSY supports women’s empowerment. He speaks openly about the toxic masculinity in Pakistan. He understands how important it is to let our women know how significant they are to us.

In the words of HSY:

“A great journey is built. You are not born with one.”

When asked how he managed to remain in vogue despite the cutthroat completion in the fashion industry, he said:

“It is because of my signature style.”

HSY is an evergreen designer who continues to stay in the limelight and maintain his influence in the fashion world.
