ISLAMABAD: The federal government has revised the prices of petroleum products for the next three days, with petrol becoming more expensive while the price of diesel has been reduced.

The Petroleum Division has issued a notification revising the prices of petroleum products, with the new rates remaining effective until September 28.

According to the notification, the price of petrol has been increased by Rs2.02 per litre. Following the latest revision, petrol will now be available at Rs391.30 per litre.

In contrast, the government has reduced the price of high-speed diesel by Rs3.59 per litre. After the reduction, diesel will be sold at Rs408.53 per litre.

The latest adjustment has resulted in different price movements for the two major petroleum products, with consumers using petrol facing an increase while diesel users will benefit from a reduction.

Petroleum prices are closely monitored by consumers, businesses and transport operators because changes in fuel rates can have a direct impact on transportation costs and the prices of goods and services.

The government periodically reviews petroleum prices in light of changes in international oil prices, exchange rates and other relevant factors. The revised rates are subsequently notified by the concerned authorities.

Under the latest notification, the increase in petrol prices means motorists will have to pay Rs2.02 more for every litre compared with the previous rate. For consumers purchasing larger quantities, the additional cost will increase accordingly.

On the other hand, the reduction in diesel prices is expected to provide some relief to diesel consumers. Diesel is widely used by public and private transport, commercial vehicles, agricultural machinery and various industries, making its price particularly important for businesses and the transport sector.

The new rates will remain applicable for the next three days, up to September 28, according to the Petroleum Division notification.

The short-term revision comes as consumers continue to closely watch fuel prices amid their broader impact on household budgets and transportation expenses.
