Heavy rain: 60 rescued in Rawalpindi

Rescue teams have evacuated 60 people from several areas of Rawalpindi as heavy rainfall triggered water accumulation and created difficult conditions for residents and commuters.

According to rescue officials, teams carried out an operation at Rahimabad Bridge and safely rescued 30 passengers who were stranded amid the heavy rain and rising water levels. Rescue personnel also evacuated eight people from Kuri Road and moved them to safer locations.

Officials said eight more people were rescued from Dhok Kala Khan, while three individuals were safely evacuated from Dhok Najju.

Rescue teams also responded to an emergency at Dar-ul-Aman, where six women were shifted to a safe location as a precautionary measure due to the deteriorating weather conditions.

Meanwhile, rescue officials said an operation was underway in Dhok Najju to evacuate five additional people who remained stranded in the area.

The situation remains challenging in other parts of the city as well. According to rescue authorities, 12 people are trapped inside their homes in New Paghwari, while several residents in Arya Mohalla have also been unable to leave their houses because of accumulated rainwater.

Rescue teams are continuing operations in the affected areas and monitoring the situation to assist people stranded by the heavy rainfall and waterlogging. Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel through waterlogged areas.
