Security forces have killed 21 terrorists in two separate operations in Balochistan, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). Six personnel, including two officers and a Customs Department official, were also martyred during the clashes.

The operations were carried out during the night between August 31 and September 1 in the Nok Chah area of Chagai and at Ziarat Cross in Pishin district.

According to the ISPR, terrorists attempted to disrupt traffic on the Quetta-Taftan National Highway, N-40. The militants allegedly tried to establish an illegal checkpoint to interfere with the movement of passengers and carry out extortion.

Security forces responded swiftly after receiving information about the attempted disruption. An intense exchange of fire followed, resulting in the killing of 11 terrorists.

A substantial quantity of weapons, ammunition and explosives was recovered from the militants following the operation, the ISPR said.

In a separate incident during the same night, another group of terrorists attacked a Customs House. According to the military, the attackers attempted to take control of the facility.

Security forces immediately engaged the attackers and effectively repelled the assault. After an intense exchange of fire, 10 terrorists were killed, taking the total number of militants eliminated in the two operations to 21.

The ISPR said some terrorists attempted to flee the scene. Security forces pursued the fleeing militants, resulting in additional casualties among the terrorist group, with several militants reportedly killed or wounded.

The clashes, however, came at a heavy cost for the security forces. Six personnel were martyred while fighting the attackers. The fallen included two officers and a government employee from the Customs Department.

The military paid tribute to the personnel who lost their lives while performing their duties and protecting state institutions and public routes.

The ISPR described the attack on the Customs House as an indication of a connection between terrorism and organised criminal activity.

It said the assault was intended to prevent Customs officials from carrying out their legal responsibilities. The attack also allegedly sought to facilitate the continuation of criminal activities operating in the area.
