Punjab Assembly member and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hina Parvez Butt has criticised social media influencer and family vlogger Rajab Butt, along with his mother, over the content shared on social media.
Rajab Butt is among Pakistan’s most-followed YouTubers, with nearly 9 million subscribers on YouTube and around 2.9 million followers on Instagram.
Hina Parvez Butt shared a short clip from Rajab Butt’s vlog on social media platform X, which later went viral. The video showed Rajab Butt’s mother appearing to faint during a prank. After the scene ended, she got up laughing and clarified that the incident was planned.
Reacting to the video, Hina Parvez Butt said such acts were being performed for money and claimed that children as young as eight were being negatively influenced by watching such content.
She further criticised the family, saying they had not played any positive role in society and that following such influencers was affecting children’s upbringing and values.
Her remarks received an immediate response from social media users. Some users supported her criticism, while others called for action against such content.
One user suggested that people should simply block and ignore such influencers, while another demanded restrictions on their content. A third user expressed disappointment that many people continue to watch such videos.
This is not the first time Hina Parvez Butt has criticised Rajab Butt and his family. Earlier, she had also raised concerns over social media influencers, claiming that their content and large followings were negatively affecting children’s morals and upbringing.
