RAWALPINDI: A Rawalpindi court on Sunday handed over the husband and domestic servant of Hina Javed to police custody for three days as investigators continued probing her death.

Hina was found dead inside the bathroom of her apartment at Askari Apartments on Thursday evening. Police said her body showed signs of injuries and that a wire had been found around her neck, attached to the shower rod.

Following the incident, police detained her husband and a domestic servant. Both suspects were presented before a duty magistrate on Sunday as investigators requested physical remand to conduct further questioning and gather evidence.

The court approved the request and granted Civil Lines police a three-day physical remand. Authorities were directed to present an investigation progress report after the remand period ends.

A first information report (FIR) was registered at Civil Lines police station on August 20 under Sections 302 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code, relating to murder and common intention.

Hina’s brother, Fahid Javed, lodged the complaint and alleged that his sister had been murdered by her husband, father-in-law and their domestic servant. He told police that he received an emergency call from Hina’s father-in-law at around 6:53pm on Thursday.

Fahid said he immediately went to the apartment with other family members and reached there at approximately 7:23pm, where he allegedly found Hina’s body inside the bathroom.

The complainant further alleged that Hina had faced severe mistreatment and torture at the hands of her husband. He also raised suspicion that she may have been given a poisonous substance before her death.

According to the FIR, Hina married the accused in November 2025.

An initial postmortem examination reportedly found a mark around her neck, an injury beneath her right lip and bleeding. However, investigators said the exact cause of death would be established after the final forensic report from the Punjab Forensic Science Agency.

Police are also examining the alleged involvement of Hina’s father-in-law. Officials said his role had not yet been established and that he was being questioned and restricted from leaving the city.

A seven-member investigation team headed by Rawalpindi Senior Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Saifullah has been constituted to examine the case.

Investigators have also taken the victim’s mobile phone, along with the phones of three family members, into custody. The devices are expected to be examined as part of efforts to reconstruct the events leading up to Hina’s death.
