A controversy has surfaced at Lady Aitchison Hospital in Lahore over the alleged use of the hospital’s private block.
The private block of the gynaecology hospital is reportedly being used for the mother-in-law of the Medical Superintendent (MS), Dr. Sobia Javed.
According to hospital administration, the MS’s mother-in-law has been residing in the private block for the past four months. The facility is normally reserved for patients and is not intended for long-term residential use.
Sources claim that the private block is being used for both treatment and accommodation purposes. They further allege that hospital staff and nurses have been assigned for her care during this period.
A video has also reportedly surfaced showing the woman staying inside the hospital’s private block, further intensifying concerns regarding the use of official healthcare facilities.
The development has raised questions about the appropriate use of hospital resources and administrative authority within the institution.
On the other hand, MS Dr. Sobia Javed has declined to comment on the matter, stating that she would not respond publicly. She added that her formal reply has already been submitted to the Punjab Health Department.
A spokesperson for the Punjab Health Department confirmed that an application has been received from the MS. The application reportedly cites multiple medical conditions of her mother-in-law.
The department further stated that the Secretary Health is currently reviewing the matter and will take appropriate action after a detailed examination of the case.
