A record breaking ride on open water
Zhang’s achievement was recognised by Guinness World Records as the longest distance travelled on open water on a modified motorcycle.
Unlike an ordinary motorcycle which is designed to run on roads, his bike was specially adapted to move across water. The ride required careful control speed and a unique design to keep the motorcycle moving forward.
How did the motorcycle move on water?
The secret behind this unusual ride was the motorcycle’s modified rear tyre. As the tyre spun it pushed water backwards helping the bike move forward.
This technique allowed the motorcycle to travel across the water’s surface instead of sinking like a normal motorcycle would.
Special modifications made the ride possible
The motorcycle was fitted with a special amphib.
