LONDON: Pakistani freestyle rapper Ghani Tiger says one of the most painful experiences of his life became the driving force behind his music, inspiring him to transform grief into powerful songs of resilience, hope, and determination.
The artist, whose real name is Hamza Ghani, endured a devastating family tragedy in 2020 when his father was killed and his brother was shot in Pasrur, Punjab. The incident had a profound impact on his life and marked a turning point in both his personal journey and artistic career.
Following the attack, Ghani shared an emotional video on social media in which he appealed for justice for his family. The video attracted widespread attention and was viewed by thousands online. According to the rapper, some of the individuals allegedly involved in his father’s killing have yet to be brought to justice.
Reflecting on that difficult period, Ghani described it as the darkest chapter of his life. He said losing his father at a young age forced him to mature quickly and take on responsibilities that many people his age would not normally face.
“My father’s killing was the darkest phase of my life,” he said. “I was still very young when it happened, but instead of allowing despair to consume me, I chose to create hope from that pain. I decided to move forward with positivity and dedicate myself to supporting my family.”
Ghani explained that the tragedy motivated him to work harder, not only to care for his loved ones but also to help others in need. He said one of his personal goals has been to support the education of underprivileged children, believing that education can change lives and create opportunities for a better future.
The rapper believes his personal experiences have shaped his artistic identity. He said the emotions he has lived through—including grief, struggle, ambition, and perseverance—have become the foundation of his songwriting and freestyle performances.
“My real-life experiences taught me how to transform everyday emotions and challenges into meaningful rap lyrics,” he said. “Every performance carries a part of my own story.”
About a year ago, Ghani relocated from Pakistan to London, where he has steadily built a growing fan base through energetic Punjabi and Urdu rap performances. His music often explores social issues, personal struggles, and current affairs while maintaining a strong connection to his cultural roots.
One of his recent patriotic songs, dedicated to Pakistan’s armed forces, gained significant attention on social media, with listeners praising its energetic style and memorable lyrics.
Since arriving in the United Kingdom, Ghani has performed at a variety of venues and events, sharing the stage with well-known Pakistani artists including Bohemia, Abrar-ul-Haq, and Bilal Saeed. Beyond concert halls, he has also entertained audiences through performances at private events, on London’s streets, and at iconic locations such as Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly Circus.
Known for his exceptional freestyle abilities, Ghani has earned recognition for composing complete rap verses within seconds. His improvisational talent has drawn praise from established artists including Bohemia, Abrar-ul-Haq, and Zeeshan Rokhri, who have publicly commended his creativity and musical skills.
Having first established himself in Pakistan’s underground rap scene through live performances and digital streaming platforms, Ghani Tiger is now introducing his unique blend of Punjabi and Urdu rap to an expanding British Asian audience. As his career continues to grow, he remains committed to using music not only as a form of entertainment but also as a way to share stories of resilience, hope, and overcoming adversity.
